carmel: leadership academy (cla:) is not simply a third year continuation of cbc: but rather it is an academy for those who are called to be leaders in the church. It is presented by cbc: as a practical course, where tomorrow’s leaders are equipped to effectively step into the calling that God has placed on their lives.
Therefore the most important requirement for joining cla: is a real awareness of God’s call to leadership and a deep desire and firm commitment to be trained for God’s service.
God must be the centre, focus and motivation of your life, because the course is designed to help you fulfil God's purpose. Leaders lead the way and this cannot be accomplished without knowing God’s purpose.
A strong emphasis is therefore placed on developing leadership skills and the capacity to serve others effectively. The course contents are specifically tailored to establish the calling that God has placed upon your life, enabling you to step out in excellence and fulfil all that God has planned and purposed for you.
A very important part of the curriculum involves exposure to different facets of practical ministry. You will be taught about church structure and government, church etiquette, how to develop a vision and write a ‘mission statement.’
Also, you will be given hands-on training by getting involved in personal evangelism, ministry to the poor, and visiting homes for the elderly,
hospitals and prisons. Included with this is involvement in various other
church programmes and overseas mission trips.
