Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; do not spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, and your descendants shall inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited |
When you enrol at cbc: you will find that life changes as you embark on this season’s journey. We endeavour to make those changes as easy as possible for you and we give particular attention to those who have come from overseas or others who are not local to Bristol.
All students are given the opportunity to purchase a copy of the cbc: local guide. For those finding their way around, up to date useful information is included on the following:
Libraries, letting agents, supermarkets, banks, dentists, job centres, post offices, health centres/doctors, sports centres, swimming pools, bus routes, local maps and useful internet addresses.
The first week of the academic year is orientation week when a student overseer addresses the students and becomes the point of contact. They will help in many ways, such as with the completion of forms, application for national insurance or council tax exemption, and other situations which need to be addressed relating to life in a new city.
During this week all new international students are linked with a second or third year student, if possible from the same country of origin. They will be able to help with the transition into this new life and give helpful hints to make the new student's stay more comfortable.
One thing you will never be when you join cbc: is alone. If you have left your home church you are encouraged and are welcome to become part of carmel:church for the duration of your stay. You are encouraged to join a home group and a mentor group as a priority, as well as serve in one or more of the many departments that serve the church.
Friendships and relationships will be made during cbc: that will last a life time – come and join us and have the time of your life!
