The messages below from CBC's chancellor, vice-chancellor and dean explain the vision and purpose of Bible college, highlighting its importance for all Christians.

FROM THE CHANCELLOR: Pastor Gerri Di Somma

When I resigned my post as the Director of Faculty for Rhema Bible Training Centre, South Africa in 1993, it was to go into the mission field in Europe and establish teaching and training centres. What burned in my heart was to have a college that would help and equip people to do LIFE, and then prepare them to become effective ministers and leaders in their families, churches and communities. The reason there is so much failure, strife and division in the world and the church is that people have not been taught how to overcome sin (Self-Indulgent Narcissism) and do LIFE (Living In Faith Experientially) like God originally intended.

Most people spend 12 years in schools and colleges to gain an education, then another 4+ years obtaining skills to earn a living but spend zero time learning how to do LIFE. That is, how to be successful in relationship to God, self and others, how to raise a family, and how to be an active member of their community and church, contributing to the welfare of others.

This was the heart and purpose of Carmel Bible College from its inception - to help equip people to do LIFE. Nobody can successfully lead others until they have first learned to lead themselves. CBC has developed these tools to help individuals from all walks of life, irrespective of gender, culture, education or ability, to successfully navigate LIFE through the maze of confusion that the philosophies of this world present.

The Bible says in Hosea 4:8, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” It also says in Deuteronomy 30:14, “But the Word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.” The Bible is the manual for LIFE; it is not just a historical recording of a group of people, but a real record of accounts that teach us the principles of LIFE and how to find our way through the chaos of the fallen nature of man. In it, we learn the importance of covenant, the power of agreement and the wisdom to make the right choices.

There are many Bible colleges in the world who major on giving their students a lot of information but very little revelation. They fill their heads with knowledge of the Bible instead of filling their hearts with the presence and power of God. Change can only come in your life when you know who the Father is, what the Son did for you in redemption, and how the Holy Spirit lives in you and through you in a genuine and living way. This is the true measure of CBC’s success - helping people to have an encounter with the giver of LIFE Himself.

In Genesis, we read that when God created mankind, He blessed them and said: “Be fruitful, multiply and have dominion.” This is your opportunity to step into the promises of God and fulfil your destiny. Please read the testimonies of those who have successfully completed the courses and are now actively involved in doing LIFE the Bible way. The freedom they experience is found in knowing who they are and what they have been called to do. Every day, they wake up with excitement in their hearts, knowing that they have a purpose and that all they do affects eternity in a real and meaningful way.

FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR: Pastor Michelle Di Somma

When I reflect back on my born-again experience, I recall a time when I was so hungry for the Word of God and the desire to grow spiritually was insatiable. Having not experienced Christianity growing up, I had very little understanding of the Bible and, therefore, the hunger to know more was very evident within my heart. I was so grateful for the opportunity to attend a Bible college where the Word of God was taught in a very practical way. After each lecture, I was more than able to apply what I had learned, and my spiritual growth began to increase in ways that I had never imagined.

When the Lord led us to the United Kingdom, one of the instructions we received was to establish a Bible college; hence, Carmel Bible College was birthed. We began in faith with a strong desire to see people receive the Word of God in the same way that we had received it when we studied full time.

Bible college is a powerful investment into your own spiritual growth and your future as you walk with Christ. I firmly believe that we are all given opportunities to study so that we are not workmen who are ashamed. Bible college will fully equip you as an individual, and as you apply yourself diligently, your purpose in God will know no bounds. Not only is an environment of spiritual growth created on a practical level, but also an environment where the Holy Spirit is permitted to move and invade the life of the believer, changing them forever.

As Scripture so rightly teaches, the revelation knowledge of God’s Word empowers you to become Christ-like in every area of your life. As this begins to take place, you will notice that your life takes on a whole new dimension in the realm of the Spirit and you are able to step into your world and make the difference that the Lord intends for you to make. The great thing is that you are now equipped to change not only your life but also to minister into the lives of those whom the Lord will bring to you, enabling you to impact each and every one you encounter with the truth of God’s Word.

Bible college will definitely be the best decision that you will ever make for your life, your future, and for your family.

FROM THE DEAN: Nigel Parkinson

A graduate of the charter class of 1998, I can look back and testify that after receiving the gift of salvation, enrolling at Bible college was the next most important decision I made as a believer. Bible college not only transformed and equipped me for the call God had placed on my life, firstly in the marketplace and then in full-time ministry, but it also prepared me to live a life of faith, without which, the Bible says, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).

For the believer, nothing can replace setting time aside to sit under and study the anointed Word of God. As Scripture exhorts us: Study to show yourself approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). Our college motto is 'Carpe Diem' which means 'Seize the Day'.
